The Roborock Dyad Pro is a powerful cordless solution for wet and dry messes, boasting an impressive 17,000Pa suction power and the ability to vacuum and wash at the same time. With DyadPower™, users can easily deep clean small corners and hard-to-reach areas, while the self-maintenance capabilities ensure odors and bacteria don’t build up.
The Dyad Pro is available for purchase on Amazon and Roborock Official Store in the United States, priced at an MSRP of $449.99 but I snagged one on sale for $349 on 4/12.
My expectations for the Dyad Pro - what I’m looking for in a wet/dry vacuum
The commercials for the Dyad show crazy spills. I’ve seen others use the Dyad Pro to clean nasty messes of ice cream and honey off their floors. I doubt I will be using it for those extremes, but I’m not ruling it out either.
Instead, there are a few problems I think the Dyad will solve for me:
- Should eliminate the need to do multiple passes on the floor. Typically there is one pass for vacuuming, and one pass for mopping with the Bona wand, or a manual spot clean up with a rag. I don’t “mop” all the time with the Bona wand either, because it’s a pain (it’s a once-every-few-weeks job). If the Dyad Pro can help me mop more frequently, that’s a positive in my book.
- Should eliminate the need to dry my floor before vacuuming. In the kitchen, there are often water drips on the hardwood from washing hands, doing dishes, and other small spills. Water damages stick vacuums (like the Dyson V15), which means that I have to dry the floor with a rag or paper towel first. These water spots can be hard to find too, meaning I’m probably sucking up more moisture than I think on a regular basis.
If I’m right, this equates to time savings and a cleaner environment (the cat likes clean floors).
Questions I have prior to the purchase
- Is it possible to run it dry only? If so, how is the performance compared to my Dyson V15 cordless stick vacuum?
- How much of a hassle is it to load water in the tank before cleaning?
- How much of a hassle is it to clean out the dirty water tank after every use?
- How long can I trust the self-cleaning mechanism before I need to do a manual clean (pop off the rollers and rinse, wipe underside etc)?
- How long does it take to dry after starting the self-cleaning cycle?
My Findings and Review
After testing out the Roborock Dyad Pro, I’m happy to report that it has exceeded my expectations. Here are the answers to the questions I had prior to the purchase:
Is it possible to run it dry only? If so, how is the performance compared to my Dyson V15 cordless stick vacuum?
Yes, it is possible to run the Dyad Pro in dry mode only. In fact, there is a dedicated button on the device that allows you to switch between vacuuming and mopping modes. In Floor Drying mode, the device is incredibly powerful and tends to outperform my Dyson V15 cordless stick vacuum simply because there is greater width in the roller area.
However, Floor Drying mode is limited to 1 min, after which Auto mode resumes. Based on the time limit for Floor Drying mode, the Dyad Pro can’t exactly be dedicated to cleaning floors without water involved. I think this is OK for my use case, but something to note if you are looking for an either-or solution.
How much of a hassle is it to load water in the tank before cleaning?
Loading water into the tank is very easy and straightforward. The water tank is detachable and can be filled directly from the sink. It takes less than a minute to fill up the tank, and it provides enough water to clean my entire kitchen and living room area.
When the clean water tank gets low, an empty indicator on the device will notify you that you need to refill.
How much of a hassle is it to clean out the dirty water tank after every use?
Cleaning out the dirty water tank is also very easy. The tank is detachable and can be emptied directly into the sink or toilet. It is recommended to rinse the tank with water after every use to prevent any buildup or odors, but this only takes a few seconds.
The real trick with the dirty water tank is to use the internal filter cup design to collect the large debris, then you can throw the bigger stuff in the trash and the liquid down the drain. Great design feature!
How long can I trust the self-cleaning mechanism before I need to do a manual clean (pop off the rollers and rinse, wipe underside etc)?
The self-cleaning mechanism on the Dyad Pro is very effective at preventing any buildup or odors. It’s still recommended to do a manual clean every few weeks to ensure optimal performance.
The manual cleaning process is straightforward and takes less than five minutes to rise out the dirty water tank, pull off the rollers and wipe the internals down.
How long does it take to dry after starting a self-cleaning cycle?
I found that the rollers were slightly damp after the default silent drying time of 3 hours. Based on this I bumped up the setting in the Roborock App to 6 hours. If you wanted to minimize the time you could use fast drying mode, but I prefer the silent setting personally.
Things you can adjust with the Dyad Pro and App
The physical button controls for the Dyad only operate basic features like mode control and enabling Self Clean, Changing Mode and Power. I wish they would have done more here to let us access a deeper set of features without having to connect an app.
Within the app, you can access a bunch of important settings:
- Turning the voice announcement volume off or to a lower volume (its quite loud by default)
- Setting the water output level. By default, it’s in the middle position, but I found it to be putting out too much water.
- Scheduling the cleaning/drying cycle
- Adjust drying time settings
- Cleaning history
TIP One thing that was tricky for me was initially connecting to the device. In my case, to get everything sync’d up I had to jump through some hoops:
- In my iPhone settings, it was critical to disable Cellular Connection for the Roborock App.
Final Thoughts
So far, I think the Dyad Pro is going to work out well for me as a daily driver. With pets and kids, there is always a bit of mopping to do, even if I don’t have a giant ice cream spill to clean up every day.
The Dyad Pro seems like it will be a game-changer in terms of time savings and convenience. It has eliminated the need for me to do multiple passes on the floor or worry about having a dry floor before vacuuming. In terms of performance, I have no complaints.
